Hey! I’m Lyn. Welcome to my little corner of the world. I’m a wife, mother, and yes-a former beauty queen. Truth is, I never felt entirely comfortable with the crowns or the titles. I’m just a country girl really. I grew up in North Florida which may conjure up ideas of white sandy beaches and swanky hotels but that is hardly the environment I knew.
I was raised on a farm in a little town characterized by Tiger football on Friday nights, church on Sundays, Fish Fries and Chicken Pilau(pronounced “per-lo”) suppers (explanation of these terms later) As a child, the highlight of my week was Sunday. My whole family would meet at my grandparent’s home after church for dinner (also known as “lunch “to most of the world). My grandmother would prepare a beautiful table filled with the most delicious southern food you can imagine. I will share many of those recipes in The Kitchen Table.
One snowy January evening a long time ago I fell in love with a boy from Virginia – my first and last blind date! We married two years later and I’ve been living in the Blue Ridge Mountains ever since. Now, I’m a Mama to two teenage girls who I love more than my grandmother’s pound cake and who keep me on my knees and in my Bible.
Although most of this sounds like a Cinderella story, I promise you it isn’t. I have walked a thorny, tangled path but there is One who pursues me relentlessly ~ singing songs with words that lead me back into His arms ~ words that remake me and reshape me from the inside out ~ words that inspire me to tell you, dear friend, that He pursues you too. Relentlessly.
What I pen on these pages are fragments from my journey with the One who takes me daily to a place called Grace. Why don’t you pull up a rocking chair, I’d just love to sit and rock with you a while.
